Q
The working pressure of a positive pressure air respirator refers to the working pressure of the gas cylinder, which is 30MPa. The filling pressure of the gas cylinder should not exceed 30MPa. In addition to the rated working pressure, it is important to know that the maximum inhalation resistance is ≤500PA; the maximum exhalation resistance is <1000PA. The residual gas alarm pressure is 5 to 6MPa. When the residual pressure alarm starts to sound, the user should immediately evacuate to a location that does not require respirator protection, to avoid exposure to toxic contaminated environments or harm to the personnel conducting the detection.
Q
The usage time of air respirators varies for different users and situations, with gas consumption differing accordingly. The greater the work intensity, the faster the gas in the cylinder is consumed. The main factors to consider when using a respirator include: 1. The user's labor intensity; 2. The user's physical condition; 3. The degree to which the user is affected by personal emotions such as excitement or fear; 4. The level of training and experience the user has with this or similar equipment; 5. Whether the cylinder was fully charged at the start of use; 6. The atmospheric pressure in the environment, for example, if in an environment of 2 atmospheres (such as in a pressurized tunnel or chamber), the usage time is based on 1 atmosphere; if used at 3 atmospheres, the usage time is one-third of that at 1 atmosphere; 7. Factors such as the mask not fitting snugly against the face or being worn incorrectly.
Q
The scrapping period for positive pressure air respirators depends on the usage conditions of the respirator. The service life of the gas cylinder is 15 years, and as long as it is within this period, the wear and tear of other components should also be considered. Therefore, the scrapping of the air respirator depends on the specific situation of the user. During the service life of the positive pressure air respirator, a hydrostatic test must be conducted every three years, and the backplate assembly of the respirator must undergo an annual inspection.
Q
1. Whole machine airtightness check Close the air respirator supply valve's intake switch, open the cylinder valve, and after 2 minutes, close it. The pressure drop on the pressure gauge within 1 minute after closing the cylinder valve should not exceed 2 MPa. If the drop exceeds 2 MPa in 1 minute, each component and connection should be checked for airtightness. 2. Alarm pressure of the alarm device Open the cylinder valve, and when the pressure gauge reading rises above 7 MPa, close the cylinder valve. Monitor the drop until the alarm starts; the starting alarm pressure should be between 5-6 MPa. If the starting pressure exceeds this range, the alarm device should be removed, and each component should be checked for damage, replacing any damaged parts with new ones. 3. Matching check of the supply valve and full face mask Close the intake valve of the supply valve, wear the mask properly, then open the cylinder valve. If a "hissing" sound is heard during inhalation; during exhalation and breath-holding, if the supply valve continues to supply air and the "hissing" sound is still heard, it indicates a mismatch. In this case, a comprehensive check or replacement of the supply valve and full face mask should be performed, and a matching check should be redone until it meets the standards.
Q
Generally speaking, for small businesses where the frequency of using air respirators is not very high, you can choose to have the positive pressure air respirators refilled at nearby local fire departments or dealers or manufacturers of air respirators for a fee. For large industrial and mining operations where the frequency of using air respirators is higher, it is recommended that the department equip a filling pump, so that it can be used and refilled immediately.
